Sanitary Landfill

The Cherokee Nation Sanitary Landfill provides safe and reliable waste disposal services to the public, including Cherokee Nation citizens and surrounding communities. Established in the early 1980s, the landfill was developed in response to regional needs for solid waste solutions and has since served individuals and businesses across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Closed: Weekends and holidays

Rates & Fees
(effective through September 30, 2025)

Residential/Household Trash: $27.00 per ton ($8.00 minimum)
Problematic Waste: $37.50 per ton

Prohibited Items
The landfill does not accept:

Tires
Batteries
Wet paint
Solar panels
Bulk amounts of liquids
Bulk amounts of plastics
Refrigeration systems (including any items with a compressor and/or freon).
- Note: Refrigeration systems may be accepted only with signed documentation showing freon has been properly removed by a licensed HVAC technician.
