Pesticides Program

The core purpose of the Pesticides Program is to protect public health and the environment from unreasonable risk posed by pesticides and to promote safer means of pest control. The Cherokee Nation Code has been updated to require notification of pesticide use to CNEP no less than forty-eight (48) hours prior to application on a Cherokee Nation owned or operated facility. This can be done by completing the Pesticide Application Notice (PAN) form (see Downloads section) and sending it to pesticide-notifications@cherokee.org. This report will include the following information:

  1. Name and address of facility to be treated
  2. Location of the application
  3. Date of the application
  4. Name, address, and contact information of the applicator
    1. After completion of a pesticide application, a Pesticide Application Notice (PAN) Final Report (see Downloads section) should be completed and submitted to pesticide-notifications@cherokee.org; this report will include the following information:
  5. Address of the facility that was treated, specific areas where product was applied, and contact person at that facility
  6. Name, address, and contact information of the applicator
  7. Name and license number of individual making the application
  8. Brand name and EPA registration number of the product used
  9. Year, month, day, and time of application
  10. Target pest(s)
  11. Quantity of pesticide used
  12. Method of application

Exemptions to the 48-hour notification include:

  • Emergency pesticide applications required by public health officials
  • Disinfectants, sanitizers, deodorizers, or microbial agents used for general cleaning purposes
  • Baits and traps used for pest control
